Once-a-Year Goodwill Bridal Sale!
The DC Goodwill Fashionista comes bearing big news today, dear readers. Say "I Do" to the biggest wedding sale of the year!
One week from this Sunday is your opportunity to score the bridal gown deal of your dreams. That's right, it's the Once-a-Year Goodwill Bridal Sale! This monumental occasion will take place on Sunday, March 30th from noon-4pm, or until the last gown is sold, at Westfield Wheaton Shoppington in Wheaton, MD in a store front located on the lower level, near entrance 1, next to the Ashley Stewart store. For those of you living in the DC metro area, drive your car, hail a taxi, hop on the metro, run after the bus, air up your bicycle tires, put on your running shoes...JUST DON'T BE LATE TO THE ALTER!
Over 200 gowns of all shapes and sizes - everything from a 4 to a 24, sheaths to princess ballgowns - have been donated to Goodwill. These gowns have been professionally cleaned by ZIPS Dry Cleaners, and will be organized by Goodwill staff on the day of the sale, including yours truly. Prices range from under $125 to around $400, depending upon the designer and condition. I can personally attest to some fabulous vintage lace dresses, if you're looking for a boho/hibbie vibe at your wedding or for any formal occasion.
Additionally, some tuxedos, men's suits, bridesmaids, and flower girl dresses will be on sale, too. We have have a small selection of shoes and accessories. What a deal! And that's why this week's Goodwill Good Buy of the Week is wedding gowns. But these aren't going up on eBay, oh no, dear readers. You have to be there at the sale to snag these gorgeous gowns. Check out the first one above: it's a gorgeous ivory duchesse satin strapless gown with matching stole, both embroidered with blue and ivory flowers and greenery. It looks as though it buttons up the back, but actually zips. It's a size 4 and I want to say thanks to Patricia from Goodwill's accounting department for being brave enough to model it on camera!
The dress to the right is decidedly the current favorite of the DCGF and many at Goodwill. As modeled by Sharon - our custodian at headquarters - this smashing full-skirted halter-neck gown with heavy beading and champagne-colored satin trim is a sight to behold! We absolutely love the bow detail on the back, too, which can be seen on the blog masthead above. Kinda makes a girl want to get married! But there's no time for that right now, dear readers... The DCGF has a sale to organize! Hope to see you there...

I think it's grrrreat that you have your employees model the clothes on your blog. It's nice to play dress-up once in awhile. I'm sure you will have some wonderful gowns that will make some brides-to-be very happy on their wedding day !
Good luck with your sale! Ours went really well, as you know, so I am sure you'll have a hit event, too. As a bride, I know we all can stand to save some money!
I would love to go to the event this weekend but will already be attending another wedding event. I'm sure that your event will be great and you'll sell most of the dresses. BUT just in case there are any left over, where will they be sent?
Ooh, good question! Any remaining merchandise will be sold at the Goodwill location in DC at 2200 South Dakota Avenue, NE, 20018. BUT if we have some really amazing bridal gowns left, I'll post them on eBay and let my dear readers know about it! -the DCGF
