The Fashion of Goodwill: Runway to Retail
Yes, dear readers, in a little over twenty-four hours yours truly will be setting up for the Fashion of Goodwill Runway Show and Silent Auction at the French Embassy in D.C. Phew! How the time has flown. That just leaves us one more chance to view the great clothes that you'll have the chance to bid on starting tomorrow at midnight on the DC Goodwill eBay Store. Can I get a what, what?\
Today I'm going to share a few looks with you, just to mix it up a bit. First up is the statement tee, or - in this case - the statement coat and the statement tank. Ours, on the right, offers a timely reminder to vote. It doesn't matter for whom, as long as you get out there and voice your opinion (the DCGF is equal opportunity when it comes to politicians: I'd like to re-dress 'em all!). The Viktor & Rolf coat on the left is a bit more ambiguous. Is the statement "Dream On" meant sarcastically, as in, "Good luck, 'cause that's never gonna come to fruition," or more as encouragement, as in "Don't give up on that which you seek to achieve." Either way, it's totally funky and pretty much completely unwearable. Clearly, that makes it classic Viktor & Rolf!
As you know, I really loved the spring trenches at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show last week (that was only last week?!). But you're going to need a good one for fall, dear readers, and red is, well, red-hot right now, as the Gucci version as left illustrates. Goodwill's vintage leather version at right is just at stylish, and for a fraction (literally) of the prices. Don't they both look great with black, gray, or white? Fashionable dressing doesn't get much more effortless than this.
A great cocktail dress will never go out of style, but don't you get tired of always wearing the same accessories? Versace, at left, showed that a kick of color in footwear can really spice up an otherwise monochromatic look. Likewise, the Goodwill dress as right has been augmented with equally vibrant red pumps and retro-style accessories such as a hair-bow and faux-freshwater pearl necklace. A longer gold chain adds dimension and draws attention to the ruching on the bodice. It's a vintage feel without being overkill, a look that nearly any gal could pull off.
So there you have it. Three more great looks from the Virtual Photo Shoot and Look Book, going live at Midnight tomorrow on the Fashion of Goodwill website. You know you're gonna stay up and watch it! Ahhh...good times. And I know I say this nearly every posting, but it doesn't hurt to remind everybody that all of the proceeds from the Fashion of Goodwill Runway Show, Silent Auction, and eBay Store support Goodwill's missiong of training and employment people with disabilities and disadvantages. Did you know October's National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month? What better time than now to support the work of Goodwill!
Thank you.

I know! We'll catch you at the next event, okay? -the DCGF
Help! What is the attire for tomorrow's event?!?
Ah, yes! Tomorrow's event in "business dress" or "cocktail" attired, so anything from a suit with a sparkly camisole and heels to a black dress like those in the bottom pics are perfectly acceptable. I'll be wearing separates with lots of funky jewelry and my Chanel flats. So French! -the DCGF
