A Modest Proposal
Ah yes, dear readers, now that the election is over, let the DCGF offers some recommendations to the President Elect and Vice President Elect. Sartorial recommendations, that is. You didn't think I'd offer policy advice, did you? Unless they're opening up a cabinet position on style, I'll stick with what I know.
And what I know is that I want to have a little fun after the last 21 months of seriousness. To wit, I offer my suggestions of Goodwill fashions past that might inspire the Barack, Michelle, Joe, and Jill (we're all on first name terms, of course!) to think differently about how they dress over the next four years. Apologies in advance for the crudeness of the illustration abilities. Oh, who am I kidding? I meant for it them look this way...
Barack Obama deserves some much-needed rest, does he not? Why not do so in a classy way, with this vintage velveteen smoking jacket, which you might remember from a blog post a while back. It says, "I might be in charge of the Free World, but I still know how to relax in style." Word.
Many of said that Michelle Obama's style is reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy's. While I'm not sure I agree, I do think she should wear more vintage, like this totally awesome 80s suit from our Fall 2007 Look Book. She was chided for the waist-emphasizing style of the Narciso Rodriguez dress she wore on election night, but I think a style like this would flatter her enviable figure. Radical!
Over in the Vice Presidential mansion, I think Jill Biden needs to loosen up a bit and break free of her somewhat staid look. This vintage cotton print dress from Paris (yes, it's okay for her to buy non-US, as long as she does so responsibly!) from our Spring 2008 Look Book is age appropriate yet stylish enough that her daughter is going to want to borrow it. Tres chic!
Finally Joe Biden might want to let down his hair and let out his inner wild child with a leather bomber and denim combo from our Fall 2008 Look Book. And if he starts talking too much, just start paying attention to the dog. That should get him off topic. Ha.
Wow! Goodwill really has a lot to offer our future leaders. Oh, and about that other topic - you know, the whole Sarah Palin wardrobe thingy? Let's just say that the DCGF is looking forward to receiving that delightful donation any day now. We love gently used designer clothing!

What?!? I wore Michelle Obama's dress on Halloween!! More or less the same except it didn't have the subtle floral print. So cool!
I say Joe wins this make-over post !!
Since Michelle will be in your town for awhile....she can be an advocate for Goodwill :) Call her !
